Aims of Module
Develop a critical perspective and analysis of integrating an occupational perspective of health in relation to public health,occupational therapy and the implications for future practice.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically analyse an occupational perspective of health in relation to occupational therapy and public health.
2 Critically appraise the evidence for integrating an occupational perspective of health, in relation to occupational therapy and public health.
3 Critically examine the complex determinants of health in relation to a range of populations and settings
4 Critically debate the contribution of occupational therapy in the prevention of illness and promotion of health and wellbeing.

Indicative Module Content
An occupational perspective of health and public health are the overarching paradigms which will inform the module content and focus.Topics and themes will reflect a diversity of contexts, populations and settings,in relation to public health, global health, epidemiology, epigenetics, health promotion and occupational therapy practice. Health literacy, models of health, salutogenesis , humanising healthcare, politics of health, occupational science, complex adaptive systems, health inequalities, human rights, prevention, trans-disciplinary working, new ways of working ,implications for practice ,evidence, research, methodologies scholarship of practice, boundary - spanning, disaster -preparedness and sustainability.

Module Delivery
The module will adopt a blended learning approach to enable students to explore, critically analyse,debate and reflect upon an occupational perspective of health in relation to public health and occupational therapy theory and practice. Students will engage in key note lectures, workshops, photo-voice activity, tutorials ,situated learning in a range of settings.Virtual learning ,self-directed learning,research and trans -disciplinary working to underpin knowledge and the learning experience.

Module Grade Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade:
A To achieve a Grade A for the module at least:3A's and 1B are required in aspects 1-4 with 3 distinctions in aspects 5-7.
B To achieve a Grade B for the module a minimum of 3 B's and 1C are required in aspects 1-4 with 2 distinctions and 1 pass in aspects 5-7.
C To achieve a Grade C for the module a minimum of 3 C's and 1D, are required in aspects 1-4 with 1 distinction and 2 passes in aspects 5-7.
D To achieve a Grade D for the module at least: 3 Ds and 1E are required in aspects 1-4 with 3 passes in aspects 5-7
E To achieve a Grade E in the module the minimum for a Grade for D in sections 1-7 has not been achieved.
F To achieve a Grade F in the Module, one or more of the sections from 1-7 of the marking grid, will have achieved a Grade F.
