Aims of Module
To provide the student with the knowledge and skills to analyse and evaluate the drivers promoting change in service provision, the professional arena and the scope of radiographic practice.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically evaluate the impact to service users and providers of contemporary issues influencing the professional working environment in health and social care.
2 Critically evaluate the impact of emerging professional and healthcare policy on the role of the radiographer.
3 Discuss the ethical, legal, professional and interdisciplinary implications of extending and changing professional roles.
4 Discuss the leadership and management factors that influence the implementation of advanced and extended scope practices in radiography.

Indicative Module Content
The dynamic nature of radiography and continual modernisation of the profession will be reflected in the content of this module. The module team will consider on an annual basis pertinent topics to include. Guidance will be sought from research, professional and healthcare policy, journals, national reports, professional publications and national forums. The primary themes will include: Legislation, government and professional policy, Modernisation, workforce planning and redesign in service delivery, Governance, standard setting and regulation of the allied health professions, The user perspective and patient centredness, Concepts and application of extended scope and advanced practice working, Leadership and interdisciplinary working, Impact of developing technology in imaging, Health and social care economics, financial management.
