Successful completion of Stages 1-3 of the BSc (Hons) Applied Sport and Exercise Science course, or equivalent; and A recognised level I coaching qualification.

Aims of Module
This module's practical content provides opportunity for students to engage in experiential learning. Students participate in a range of coaching activities, designed to encourage an appreciation of evaluation and behaviour change strategies.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Critically evaluate the nature of mentoring in sports coaching.

Critically evaluate personal practice through reflection and feedback.

Critically analyse the process of behaviour change.

Synthesise theory to inform modification to personal coaching practice.

Indicative Module Content
Video feedback and reflection; reflective discussion with ‘significant others’; professional development through experiential and problem based learning; personal development through structured mentorship; modification of coaching behaviour ‘in action’; peer modelling.

Mode of Delivery
This module will be partly practical-based and aspects of each class will be video-recorded. Students must be prepared to sign a video release form prior to enrolling on this module.
