Aims of Module

To enable the student to explore, analyse and evaluate interdisciplinary and multi-agency working.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Analyse the individual and professional roles, principles and values of interdisciplinary team members across different agencies.
2. Critically evaluate the factors which impact upon the functioning of interdisciplinary and multiagency teams.
3. Discuss clinical leadership, management and entrepeneurship within interdisciplinary and multi-agency teams.
4. Discuss the impact of cultural, geographical and organisational factors on interdisciplinary and multi-agency working.

Indicative Module Content

The nature of team working, coordination, communication and environments. Professional values. Clinical supervision frameworks. Clinical leadership and management. Interdisciplinary teams in healthcare. Multi-agency working, leadership and organisation. Patient Liaison Groups and patient perceptions.
Influence of cultural, geographical and organisational issues on partnership working. Entrepreneurship in healthcare. Mission and vision statements. Business planning. Administrative ethics.
