Aims of Module | |||

To enable the student to undertake a critical and reflective evaluation of patient management, further develop a person centred approach and evaluate alternative management strategies. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Critically analyse and evaluate literature on a selected topic relevant to professional practice. |
2 | Justify the criteria for the selection and application of physiotherapeutic practice in relation to patient care. |
3 | Identify, appraise and discuss selected physiotherapy management strategies. |
4 | Apply selected alternative physiotherapy techniques to patient management in a patient centred manner. |
5 | Discuss issues relating to role development within the multi-disciplinary team with a holistic approach to patient care. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Application of physiotherapy skills in assessment, goal setting and management in key areas of Physiotherapy. Relevant literature will be used to critically evaluate the evidence base and clinical effectiveness. Investigation of alternative management strategies with teaching of selected techniques. Critical evaluation of the role of the team and the importance of goal setting will also be considered. |
