Aims of Module
To enable the student to evaluate the extent of sports and exercise related injuries. To aid the rehabilitation of clients back to fullest available fitness.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Discuss the classifications of sports and exercise related injuries and justify the timing of return to full functional activity.

Evaluate the psychosocial factors that may impact on the management and recovery of the individual.

Evaluate the needs of individual clients when devising maintenance programmes, enhancement programmes and return to sport specific activities.

4. |
Compare and contrast the role that professsionals and other agencies have in managing sports injuries.

Indicative Module Content
Classification, healing and tissue repair in relation to the overall management and rehabilitation of the injured client. Psychosocial aspects of the injured client, including cultural and business pressures.
| Referral for diagnosis or treatment and liaison with others who have input to the injured client. Maintaining/improving fitness and the risks of returning to sport too early.
