Aims of Module
To enable students to apply knowledge and skills in the assessment and treatment of patients to the practice setting. To enable the student to select and organise an elective placement to broaden the individual's clinical experience.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1	Independently assess patients to determine their problems/needs and plan, implement, evaluate and modify physiotherapeutic programmes which address the holistic needs of patients.
2	Evaluate the roles of all the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) members involved in the holistic management of patients.
3	Provide a co-ordinated approach to care through facilitating interaction with other professionals and carers.
4	Take responsibility for the organisation of physiotherapy provision and the discharge of patients.
5	Contribute to his/her personal and professional development by reflection on their practice and own values, beliefs and attitudes.

Indicative Module Content
This practice-based module will include experiential learning involving practice and/or digital delivery. HCPC Standards of Proficiency, HCPC Guidance on Conduct and Ethics for Students, professional behaviour, personal and professional resilience. Application of relevant physiotherapy knowledge and skills. Professional discussion and reflective activities which involve linking theory to the unit/department, participation in patient/client treatment/management programmes, opportunities to teach skills and/or activities and to plan and organise. Involvement in unit/department routine management tasks, attendance at appropriate meetings, opportunities for reporting and recording, opportunities to reflect on and discuss the clinical setting, opportunities to explore personal strengths and weaknesses. Exercise prescription. Health improvement. Local policies and standards that are relevant to practice. Risk assessment, moving and handling, infection control. Communication. Ethical and humanitarian principles. Whistle-blowing policy. Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary working. Students will use a whole person approach with reference to issues surrounding equity, diversity, ethnicity, values and beliefs of individuals in the clinical context. Confidentiality.

Module Delivery
This is a work based practice module. This module comprises a clinical placement. Each student will undertake 32 hours per week in the nominated clinical area for a period of 5 weeks. This will equate to 160 contact hours.

Prerequisites for Module	Successful completion of Stage 1 of MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-Registration) plus completion of HSM154 Physiotherapy Pathways, HSM156 Enhancing Services and Practice, HS4023 Clinical Education CP3, HS4024 Clinical Education CP4.
Corequisites for module	None.
Precluded Modules	None.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
Students on placement and clinical educators will normally receive at least one contact from a member of academic staff to integrate academic based studies with clinical experience, monitor students' progress and contribute to formative feedback/feed forward advice. Additional contacts may be arranged as necessary.
