Aims of Module
To enable the student to carry out a comprehensive narrative literature review and develop a research question.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Apply a systematic approach to critical review of literature in the chosen topic area.
2 Produce a comprehensive critical review in the chosen topic area.
3 Develop a realistic research question grounded in relevant evidence and theory.

Indicative Module Content
Critical review of literature. Development of appropriate research question. Project supervision.

Module Delivery
The emphasis is upon independent study with the support of a supervisor and peer group. Students will participate in tutorial groups to develop and support their own and their peers learning needs. Since an integrated approach to theory and practice is central, no formal syllabus is outlined for the module. A supervisor will ensure appropriate direction, guidance and will, where necessary, highlight areas of study that would be beneficial to individual student projects. Students are required to plan, negotiate and commit to the process, in order to encourage active participation and provide support to peers.

Performance assessed with a grading proforma. Overall grade determined as follows:
Module Grade Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade:
A At least 2 at Grade A, 1 at Grade B and 1 at Grade C in rows 1 to 4 and 2 distinction and 2 pass in rows 5 to 8 on the marking grid
B At least 2 at Grade B, 1 at Grade C and 1 at Grade D in rows 1 to 4 and 1 distinction and 3 pass in rows 5 to 8 on the marking grid
C At least 2 at Grade C and 2 at Grade D in rows 1 to 4 and 4 x pass in rows 5 to 8 on the marking grid
D At least 3 at Grade D and 1 at Grade E in rows 1 to 4 and 3 x pass and 1 x fail in rows 5 to 8 on the marking grid
E 2 or more at Grade E in rows 1 to 4 and 1 x pass in rows 5 to 8 on the marking grid
F 1 or more at Grade F in rows 1 to 4 or 3 x fail in rows 5 to 8 on the marking grid
NS Non-submission of work by published deadline or non-attendance for examination

Module Requirements
Prerequisites for Module Successful completion of all Stage Three modules of either BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy or BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy will normally be required.
Corequisites for module None.
Precluded Modules None.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
Module delivery will be common to all students from the following courses: BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy and BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy.
