Aims of Module
The aim of this module is to enable the student to develop clinical knowledge and skills in challenging and/or unfamilar locations. In addition the elective nature of this module aims to facilitate development of organisational and planning skills.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate highly effective communication skills required to work effectively in unfamilar clinical environments.
2 Apply safe and effective practices in unfamilar clinical environments.
3 Demonstrate professional behaviours, conduct and attitudes in unfamilar clinical environments.
4 Practice a range of radiographic procedures under clinical supervision in unfamilar clinical environments.
5 Demonstrate effective organisation, planning, arrangement and reflective experiences of the elective placement.

Indicative Module Content
This practice-based module will include experiential learning involving supervised practice, professional discussion and reflective activities which involve linking theory with practice. This will include orientation to the department and observation of the clinical practices on a day by day basis. The student will also have opportunities to self-assess radiographic skills and to plan and organise involvement in the department. Attendance at appropriate clinical meetings will be encouraged. The student will be given the opportunity to reflect on and discuss his/her progress and to explore personal strengths and to implement strategies to overcome weaknesses.

Module Delivery
This module consists of an elective placement where the student arranges to undertake a 5 week (187.5 hours) period of clinical placement in a radiology department of their choosing.

Description: Continous clinical assessment including 100% attendance. Pass/Fail.
Component 2
Type: Coursework Weighting: 30% Outcomes Assessed: 5
Description: Placement organisation task (pass/fail) and reflection (graded).
