Aims of Module
The aim of this module is to enable the student to recognise and evaluate the role of specialist imaging modalities in the overall diagnostic profile of patient and disease management.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Discuss the operating principles of specialist imaging modalities.

Evaluate various techniques to produce multi-sectional and co-registered images.

Evaluate the role of specialist imaging modalities in the diagnostic profile of patient management.

Interpret the radiographic appearances of a range of specialist modality images.

Indicative Module Content
This module will consider the procedures and techniques reqiured to produce specialist modality images including CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Nuclear medicine. Students will evaluate the importance of funtional imaging and how this adds to the portfolio of diagnostic information. Using an intertgrated systems led approach students will consider the radiographic appearance of CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Nuclear medicine images. In the same manner the applications of specialist imaging modalities will be considered within the diagnostic profile of patient and disease management.
| The module will also include consideration of current and cutting edge research and developments within specialist imaging modalities.
