Aims of Module
To enable participants to increase their confidence in promoting health and tackling health inequalities, by providing a framework which will guide and encourage the development of effective and reflective practice.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Critically examine concepts and models of health, health improvement and health promotion and their influence on current practice.

Explain the mutual influences of social, policy, regulatory and legislative drivers on population health outcomes.

3. |
Appraise the implications of health improvement principles for reducing health inequalities and improving overall population health.

Critically examine own practice in relation to achieving continuous improvement in delivery of interventions aimed to improve health and reduce health inequalities.

5. |
Demonstrate personal use of a reflective process to generate experiential learning.

Concepts of health; influences on health; the scope of health promotion; inequalities in health; policy themes; influence of policy; individual health promotion; empowerment; community development; needs assessment; planning and evaluation; partnerships and partnership working; reflective practice.
