Aims of Module
To evaluate/discuss the research methodologies and associated evidence base that underpin patient care and service delivery in diagnostic radiography.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Examine various types of research methodologies and evidence that may be used to justify professional decision making.
2 Discuss and apply the current evidence base for an aspect of radiography practice.
3 Examine the process of and influences on critical thinking and professional decision making for an aspect of radiography practice.
4 Discuss the professional dimensions of clinical decision making based on the best available research and evidence.

Indicative Module Content
This module will enable students to identify, evaluate and apply evidence to practice. This will include appraisal and critique of the literature/evidence base, study design, methodologies, methods, data analysis and results/outcomes in relation to an area of radiography practice. There will also be experience of practical study design, sampling, data collection, processing and analysis with presentation of findings. Ethics applied to practice research and good ethical practice. Development of writing and presentation skills.

Module Delivery
Blended learning approach incorporating key note lectures, tutorials, journal clubs, online activities, directed study and practical group tasks including study design, data collection and analysis.
