Prerequisites for Module
Successful completion of all level 1 modules in the BSc (Hons) programmes in Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy or Diagnostic Radiography.
Corequisite Modules
Physiotherapy: HS2014 (Physiotherapy: Clinical Education CA2), HS2017 (Physiotherapy: Clinical Education CA3). Diagnostic Radiography: HS2013 (Radiography: Clinical Education 2), HS2016 (Radiography: Clinical Education 3). Occupational Therapy: HS2015 (Occupational Therapy: Practice Placement 2), HS2018 (Occupational Therapy: Practice Placement 3).

Aims of Module
To develop the student's skills and ability to reflect on their own professional development and self awareness in practice and to appreciate the importance of values in the healthcare environment
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Demonstrate self reflection and self awareness of values in the healthcare setting and in professional practice.

Indicative Module Content
Learning theories, theories of reflection, reflection on and in action, writing reflective journals, the affective dimension of reflection, triggers for reflection, self awareness, critical learning events, evaluation of reflection, reflection as a means of integrating theory, research, practice and learning, continuing professional development, values in healthcare.

Mode of Delivery
This module will be delivered whilst students are on their second and third clinical placements (Physiotherapy HS2014 Clinical Education CA2 and H2017 Clinical Education CA3; Diagnostic Radiography HS2013 Clinical Education 2 and HS2016 Clinical Education 3; Occupational Therapy HS2015 Practice Placement 2 and HS2018 Practice Placement 3) and will be a combination of direct contact with tutors, student centred learning and telephone and/or other electronic means of communication.
