Aims of Module
To enable the student to acquire the foundation knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of professional practice.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Explain the role of their profession in the provision of sustainable and person-centred, care.
2 Explain the shared ethical and professional values within uniprofessional and inter-professional teams in health and social care.
3 Demonstrate awareness of legislation, standards, policy and guidelines relevant to professional practice.
4 Demonstrate safe, practical application of health and safety skills required for governance within the practice environment
5 Self-reflect on the trends and innovations within practice which impact on professional development

Indicative Module Content
Professionalism; HCPC Standards of Proficiency, HCPC Guidance on Conduct and Ethics for Students, profession specific code of practice, professional behaviour, legal and ethical guidelines, professional use of social media, personal and professional resilience; continuing professional development, portfolio development, reflective practice and the reflective cycle, interprofessional learning, informed consent, communication skills, methods and styles, accurate record and document keeping, data protection, confidentiality, risk management/ Health and safety legislation, moving and handling, human factors, person centred care, adult and child protection, infection control policies and procedures, recognising and managing violence and aggression, patient care, adult basic life support, equity, diversity and ethnicity, awareness of safe use of walking aids, adapted equipment and wheelchairs, food safety/ hygiene, the workplace environment and coping in the workplace, assessment and awareness of risk management in the community and clinical settings, collaboration, creativity, curiosity, critical thinking , VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity)

This module is delivered utilising a blended learning approach incorporating online resources, tutorial sessions, practical workshops, mandatory practical training, online postings and directed study.

MODULE PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTOR
Explanatory Text
Component 1 is graded. Component 2 is pass/unsuccessful. To pass the module students must achieve a grade D in C1 and a pass in C2.
Module Grade Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade:
A C1 grade A and C2 pass
B C1 grade B and C2 pass
C C1 grade C and C2 pass
D C1 grade D and C2 pass
E C1 grade E and/or C2 UNSUCCESSFUL.
F To achieve this grade you will have failed to achieve the minimum requirements for and E. And/or fails to meet module attendance requirements.
