Aims of Module
This module aims to enable students to develop imaging practice skills and professional conduct skills within a clinical setting.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate appropriate imaging in the clinical work environment under clinical supervision.
2 Use safe working practices within the diagnostic radiography setting.
3 Describe effective patient care, communication and professional conduct in radiography.

Indicative Module Content
This practice based module will include experiential learning involving supervised practice; linking theory with practice and developing clinical and professional skills through reflection and discussion. The clinical placement will start with observation of clinical practice followed by supervised practice of imaging. Moving and Handling. Infection Control. Emergency Procedures. Communication. Confidentiality.

Module Delivery
This is a practice based module with supportive input from academic staff. Each student will undertake 37.5 hours per week in the student’s place of work clinical imaging department for a period of 7 weeks. This will equate to 300 contact hours

The module is assessed by a continuous clinical assessment which is graded on a pass/fail basis and a written piece of coursework which is graded on an A-F basis.
Module Grade Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade:

C C in coursework and pass in continous clinical assessment.
D D in coursework and pass in continous clinical assessment.
