Aims of Module
To equip the student with a knowledge of radiotherapy multifield treatment, simulation and planning.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Describe the radiotherapy management of bowel, prostate, head and neck cancer.

Describe the appropriate patient and equipment postioning for multifield radiotherapy treatment.

Demonstrate the clinical skills required to participate effectively in the localisation and simulation of radiotherapy.

Describe the application of quality asssurance systems in radiotherapy.

Indicative Module Content
Isodose distributions for multifield treatment. Beam modification and shielding. The treatment simulator and assosciated technologies. Principles of radiotherapy localisation and simulation.
| Patient contouring systems. Radiotherapy imaging systems. Image storage, archiving and retrieval. Anatomy of the bowel, prostate, head and neck. Cancer of the bowel, prostate, head and neck and associated radiotherapy management. Quality assurance and documentation in radiotherapy.
