Aims of Module
To provide the student with the ability to begin to apply radiotherapy practice within a designated placement and to develop professional skills and attitudes. The module will introduce radiotherapy simulation and the associated technologies.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Appropriatley postion the radiotherapy treatment simulator and accessory equipment for safe and effective treatment localisation.

Assist in the localisation of radiotherapy fields using a treatment simulator.

Record simulation data and treatment positioning details.

Indicative Module Content
This practice-based module will include experiential learning involving supervised practice, professional discussion and reflective activities which involve linking theory with practice. This will include observation of clinical practice followed by supervised participation in radiotherapy simulation and use of the associated technologies.

Mode of Delivery
This is a practice based module. Each student will undertake 35 hours per week in the nominated clinical imaging department for a period of 6 weeks, this will equate to approximately 210 contact hours.
