Aims of Module
To provide the student with a greater ability to apply radiotherapy practice within a designated placement and to develop professional skills and attitudes. The module will introduce the student to the treatment of multi field radiotherapy techniques and to radiotherapy localisation and simulation procedures.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Deliver a range of multi field radiotherapy treatments as specified by the treatment plan.

Assist in the localisation of treatment using a radiotherapy simulator and assist in the recording of simulation data and treatment positioning details.

Use safe working practices witin the radiotherapy setting.

Describe appropriate communication and care to support the needs of patients undergoing radiotherapy simulation or treatment.

Indicative Module Content
This practice-based module will include experiential learning involving supervised practice, professional discussion and reflective activities which involve linking theory with practice. This will include observation of clinical practice followed by supervised practice in the preparation for and delivery of multi field radiotherapy and radiothearpy treatment simulation.

Mode of Delivery
The module is delivered by a ten week clinical placement supported by e-learning.
