Aims of Module
To enable the student to gain an understanding of imaging, patient care and support of patients undergoing imaging of appendicular and axial skeleton, chest and abdomen.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Describe the radiographic technique and image critique for imaging of the appendicular and axial skeleton, chest and abdomen.
2 Describe the role of the radiography assistant practitioner in imaging of the appendicular and axial skeleton, chest and abdomen.
3 Describe the care and communication needs of patients undergoing radiographic investigations.

Indicative Module Content
Radiographic procedures to carry out plain film and fluoroscopic imaging of the appendicular and axial skeleton, chest and abdomen. Common trauma and pathologies of the appendicular and axial skeleton, chest and abdomen. Recognise surface markings, relating them to internal anatomy. Radiographic imaging appearances. Patient care and communication. Image quality, exposure factors. Image critique. Scope of practice. Adult learning.
