Aims of Module

To enable the student to gain a comprehensive understanding of the requirements for skeletal, chest and abdominal plain film and digital imaging.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Demonstrate the requirements for plain film and digital imaging of the appendicular and axial skeleton, chest and abdomen.
2. Describe the care and communication needs of patients undergoing radiographic investigations.
3. Describe relevant pathologies and associated radiographic appearances.
4. Identify normal and variant radiographic appearance of the appendicular and axial skeleton, chest and abdomen.

Radiographic procedures for appendicular and axial skeleton, chest and abdomen.
Normal and abnormal radiographic appearances.
Safe radiographic practice.
Critique of a radiographic image.
Relevant trauma and pathologies of these areas.
