Aims of Module

To enable the student to gain a comprehensive understanding of the requirements for competent skeletal and chest radiography.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Recognise and explain surface anatomy.
2. Identify normal and variant anatomy of the chest and appendicular skeleton.
3. Identify the radiographic appearances of relevant pathology.
4. Explain the requirements for correct radiographic procedure.

Indicative Module Content

Introduction to the x-ray room and familiarisation with the equipment required to carry out general extremity and chest radiography. Radiographic procedures and identification of radiographic anatomy for the extremities and chest. Common trauma and pathologies of these areas.
