Aims of Module
The aims of this module are to explore in greater depth the language and philosophy of research, gain experience in, and awareness of the modes of presentation of research and thereby inform effective presentation and communication of research outputs.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Develop awareness of the nature of spoken and written communication in the candidates chosen discipline.

Demonstrate familiarity with key texts and critically review research in a specific discipline.

Produce clear well-structured verbal and written presentations.

Indicative Module Content
Modes of research communication (discipline specific).
| Understanding the essential stages of the critical review; effective reading skills, developing a critique. The technicalities of good writing; the importance of clear language; style and structure; the supporting use of graphics, relevant criticism of results.
