Aims of Module

To develop an understanding of the internal and external context of the research.
To develop an understanding of the professional and ethical context of the research.
To develop a rigorous and viable research question.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Demonstrate a critical overview of the context in which they are working, and subsequently justify and defend the research.
2. Defend the research with respect to ethical considerations.
3. Trace, select and cite sources relevant to the focus of the research.
4. Demonstrate the skills of critical response, reflection and summary.
5. Demonstrate competence in structuring and writing a critical review (RDR).

Generating the research question.
The purpose and structure of a contextual review.
Locating and using reference materials for research.
Undertaking a contextual review.
Management of information.
Absolute and contextual ehtics.
