Aims of Module
To provide the student with the ability to undertake a major biomedical technology individual research project and to report on the findings of the research.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Plan and manage a major technical biomedical technology project and produce appropriate project documentation.
2 Conduct a focussed literature search.
3 Undertake a major investigative task, using initiative, imagination and creativity.
4 Give an oral presentation.
5 Produce a well-structured final project report.

Indicative Module Content
There is no formal syllabus for this module. The project should have biomedical technology related research and development based objectives to deliver a useful outcome relevant to a placement company, a research group or other equivalent scholarly activity. Students will develop their project specification and plan their project in conjunction with their project supervisor.

Module Delivery
The project is student-centred. Each student is allocated a member of academic staff who acts as the project supervisor. Students are expected to plan their own project activities and to meet with their supervisor on a regular basis. All students must maintain a logbook.
