Aims of Module
To provide the student with the ability to understand the operation, implementation and management of Wireless LANs.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Identify the methods required to operate a Wireless LAN.
2 Evaluate the design, implementation and management of a Wireless LAN.
3 Appraise the methodologies used when developing a Wireless LAN in commercial environments.

Wireless Technologies. Components and Topologies. Wireless standards. Modulation Techniques. Multiple Access and Bandwidth. Radio Wave Propagation. Wireless Topologies. VLAN, QoS, and Proxy Mobile IP. Access Points. Wireless Bridges. Antennas. Security. Site Survey. Troubleshooting: Management, Monitoring, and Diagnostics. Emerging Technologies: Ultra-Wideband Wireless, VoIP and Voice over WLANs, Mobile Wireless, Wireless Organizations and Certification.
