Aims of Module | |||

To provide the student with the ability to undertake a major individual research project and to report on the findings of the research. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Manage a major technical project producing appropriate project documentation. |
2 | Conduct a focussed literature search on current practices and technologies in the field. |
3 | Undertake a major investigative task, using initiative, imagination and creativity. |
4 | Communicate effectively on project work through a well structured report. |
5 | Apply appropriate skills in planning and execution of the project, preparation and delivery of technical logbook, poster and oral presentation. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
There is no formal syllabus for this module. The project should have research and development-related objectives to deliver a useful outcome relevant to a workplace company. The scope of work must include both technical and non-technical aspects appropriate to the requirements of these stakeholders and the level of course. The final report should display clear evidence of transferrable skills. Project work is based on real world problems, and engages students in analysis, research and discussion of contemporary issues, including consideration of professional ethics. The student should draw on upon a wide variety of contexts and discipline areas to construct a coherent argument, frame the project aim and objectives and generate possible solutions. There is a focus on personalised learning as the student designs, dictates and drives the nature and pace of their learning throughout the duration of the module. |
