Aims of Module
To provide the student with the ability to complete an investigation into an engineering topic and to undertake the associated design, implementation, testing and reporting.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically evaluate possible solutions to a problem, select the best approach and manage the operation of the project.
2 Design, implement and evaluate the selected solution to a problem.
3 Produce a well-structured project report.
4 Make an oral technical presentation on a project.

Indicative Module Content
The project involves task specification, system design, implementation, evaluation and project management. There is no formal syllabus for the project in general but seminars are used to provide guidance with regard to project management and report writing.

Module Delivery
The project is student-centred. Students are allocated to a member of academic staff who acts as a supervisor. Regular weekly meetings take place to review progress. All students must maintain a logbook.

Description: Project report with corroborative documentation and Project Management.

Description: Oral presentation.

Explanatory Text
To pass the module, you need to attend the oral presentation and must achieve a 40% weighted average mark from components 1 and 2.
Module Grade Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade:

F 0-34%
NS Non-submission of work by published deadline or non-attendance for examination

Prerequisites for Module Successful completion of SCQF 8 level study, or equivalent.
Corequisites for module None.
Precluded Modules EN3600 - Group Project (Engineering Stage 3).

1 Guidance Notes on Project Work, School of Engineering. (All students are given guidelines relating to the operation of the project and the structure and content of the report.)
