Aims of Module
To enable the student to demonstrate a deep and critical understanding of specific aspects of effective teaching, learning support methods, assessment and student learning. To meet the requirements of Descriptor 1 of the UK Professional Standards Framework.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically discuss key aspects of teaching, supporting learning and assessment.
2 Critically apply pedagogic knowledge to selected teaching practice (areas of activity).
3 Critically examine their role in teaching, supporting learning and assessment with respect of appropriate knowledge and demonstrating commitment to professional values.
4 Evaluate effectiveness and implications of quality assurance and quality enhancement for professional development.

Please note you have to meet ALL four of the learning outcomes in order to PASS the module as per the Marking Grid. Throughout the submission explicit reference must be made to the appropriate UKPSF Dimensions of Practice. A pass must be achieved in all elements of the coursework to pass the module.

Prerequisites for Module SCQF Level 11 entry requirements (refer Regulation A2: Admission) or equivalent.
Corequisites for module None.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

~Applicants are expected to be currently working to deliver teaching and support for learning at higher education levels and to complete a practice log of 20 hours.

~The items [A1] refer to the Dimensions of the UK Professional Standards Framework.

~All students should record their teaching practice (preparation and delivery) to support critical reflection.

~Successful completion of this module will evidence achievement and success at UK Professional Standards Framework Descriptor 1 and lead to the award of Associate Fellow.
