Aims of Module

• To enhance personal development, outwith the formal curriculum, and encourage students to undertake extra-curricular activity.
• To recognise the range of extra-curricular activity which students engage in, beyond the formal curriculum, and the personal growth and skills development derived from such activities.
• To enable students to reflect on, and evaluate, personal growth and skills development arising from extra-curricular activity.
• To enable students to demonstrate how the skills/ experiences gained via engagement in extra-curricular activity might benefit their planned career.


Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Undertake, and select, appropriate extra-curricular activity in order to achieve the aims.
2. Produce a self crafted portfolio of evidence to record the activity undertaken and learning achieved through the chosen activity.
3. Demonstrate the impact of the chosen activity.
4. Reflect on the personal growth and skills development, including potential benefits to their employability.

Indicative Module Content

The content of the experience will vary dependent on the activities undertaken. Each student should consider extra-curricular activity which will enable the learning outcomes to be met.

Mode of Delivery

The module is self paced and self directed. Primarily the module will be completed via the undertaking of extra-curricular activity and the preparation and development of an electronic evidence portfolio. In addtion students may access support resources and workshops as required.

The module will be assessed on a pass/fail basis, via a reflective essay supported by a portfolio of evidence.
