Aims of Module
To provide the student with an opportunity to apply ethical and personal transferable skills acquired on the course, in a real world work environment.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate a variety of skills including: (i) Staff relations skills (ii) Planning and Organisation skills (iii) Personal and Professional skills (iv) Communication skills
2 Develop professional skills as appropriate to their role in the host organisation.
3 Define ethical and professional behaviour with respect to working practices and environment.
4 Explain the legal constraints and obligations of the networking professional with respect to clients and society.

Indicative Module Content
The content of the Professional Issues at Work Placement (Level 4) module will be a continuation of the Network Management Work Placement (Level 3) module. Each student will review the agreed learning contract with the host organisation and carry out a programme which will enable the Learning Outcomes specified to be achieved.

Module Delivery
Supervised placement within a company by means of on-the-job training. In addition, students may be required to attend specific staff development workshops as designated by the host organisation. Students will be assigned an academic tutor.

ASSESSMENT PLAN

Component 1
Type: Coursework Weighting: 100% Outcomes Assessed: 1, 2, 3, 4
Description: Coursework assignment where students submit a portfolio of evidence which will contain documentation for the periodic reviews, evidence from the student's Personal Development Portfolio (PDP) to support the learning achieved and a critical appraisal of their placement. In addition, the supervisor's assessment of the student's work will be considered.
