Aims of Module
To provide the student with an opportunity to apply the knowledge, understanding, and personal transferable skills acquired on the course, in a real world work environment.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate the necessary skills in the following areas: (i) Technical and Learning skills (ii) Staff relations skills (iii) Planning and Organisation skills (iv) Personal and Professional skills (v) Communication skills
2 Apply the theories, models, concepts and principles acquired in the course programme to the workplace.
3 Gain practical skills appropriate to the mission of the organisation.
4 Recognise their own strengths and weaknesses as a potential systems/network manager or consultant.
5 Identify career aspiration plans and skills development needs.

Indicative Module Content
The content of the work placement will vary. However, each student will draw up an agreed learning contract with the host organisation and devise a programme which will enable the learning outcomes specified to be achieved.

Module Delivery
Supervised placement within a company by means of on-the-job training. In addition, students may be required to attend specific staff development workshops as designated by the host organisation.

Description: The component is assessed by means of staff appraisal by the company and consists of each student providing a portfolio of evidence which will contain a learning contract, documentation for the periodic reviews and further evidence deemed appropriate by the student to demonstrate that the teaching outcomes set have been achieved.
