| Additional Notes
It should be noted that this is a generic module descriptor that simply provides a standard template for the writing of the customised module descriptors that the student and their course tutor will write for each project. An example of the latter is provided along with this generic module descriptor in order to give an idea of the form that such customised MDs are likely to take. With regard to the Indicated Student Workload, this will be specific to each individual project, and will consist of an appropriate mixture of individual tutorials with the member(s) of staff reponsible for supervising the project and self-directed private study/work on the project. A typical breakdown is shown in the Indicative Student Workload section of this Module Descriptor. The topics for PG Diploma projects can be chosen from any area of Higher Education teaching relevant to the work of the course member. The following list (which is by no means complete or exclusive) gives an idea of the sort of areas from which they might be selected. - Making effective use of C&IT in Higher Education - Electronic lecturing - Producing CBL multimedia teaching/learning materials - Producing web-based teaching/learning materials - Making effective use of electronic communication systems - Developing computer-based assessment systems - Evaluating computer-mediated educational systems or materials - Developing ODL courses - Developing CPD courses and packages - Developing competence-based courses - Producing paper-based self-study materials - Using games, simulations and case studies - Developing effective practical activities - Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate projects - Quality issues in Higher Education - Carrying out academic research - Professional/academic writing - Making assessment more student-centred - Providing effective learner support - Academic management and leadership - Strategic planning in Higher Education For their fourth project, students are not allowed to repeat a topic that they have already covered in their work for CLM013, CLM014 and CLM015.
