Aims of Module
To allow the student to develop skills to gather, evaluate and use information from a range of sources. To provide information and strategies that facilitate effective academic writing and critical thinking skills.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Gather and evaluate information relevant to the written assignment.

Produce a written assignment at post experience level following the conventions of academic writing.

Critically analyse sourced, reading and reference texts.

Indicative Module Content
Working to deadlines. Analysis of titles. Identifying and evaluating relevant sources of information. Notemaking and recording information. Reading strategies. Critical thinking skills. Conventions of academic writing. Concept mapping. Structuring assignments. Referencing. Drafting. Proofreading.
