Aims of Module
To develop English Language skills in writing, reading, speaking and listening to IELTS Level 6.5 or equivalent.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Produce written assignments showing detailed application of academic style, grammar, presentation and referencing of academic texts, journals, websites and online resources.

Gather and evaluate information relevant to own subject area from a range of sources to include academic texts, journals, websites and on-line databases.

Express complex ideas clearly, using a wide range of appropriate vocabulary and cohesive devices.

Comprehend, analyse and evaluate written and spoken academic English.

Use of English Language. Use of academic English conventions. Paper-based and electronic sources of information. Evaluating information sources. Analysing academic information. Clarity of speech.
