Aims of Module | |||
---|---|---|---|
To enable the student to undertake a supervised applied research project in an external organization or sector. During the project, the student will be expected to synthesise and apply knowledge and skills developed from the taught elements of the programme. The theoretical insights gained from the research will form the basis of a reflective report to management on the practical implications of the research findings. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Critically review relevant current literature on a research topic which is both topical and has practical application to an organisational problem or issue. |
2 | Produce a research design which encompasses both secondary and primary data, together with an appropriate methodology and data analysis framework. |
3 | Critically discuss the research findings, including the formulation of practical and cost-effective recommendations to the organisation(s) or sector under investigation. |
4 | Synthesise the research processes undertaken to produce a dissertation which displays critical thought, effective insights and, where appropriate, originality, to fill a gap in the extant research literature. |
5 | Reflect on the research process, displaying awareness both of the limitations of the project and any attendant ethical problems. |
