Aims of Module
This module will provide students with a critical understanding of the legal frameworks in which international companies operate. It will enable them to evaluate major international legal issues reflected by the current political situation worldwide. Furthermore, students will learn how to manage the risks related to legal and political factors in global trade.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Appraise the impact domestic, regional, national and international law have on international business transactions.
2 Critically evaluate the areas of potential legal risks of owning an international business or undertaking international transactions.
3 Analyse complex problems related to international business law and argue reasoned choices from a range of actions.
4 Critically evaluate the implications of different legal systems on international business transactions.
5 Critique the role of international political and judicial organizations involved in current global legal issues, and their relevance to international business.

Indicative Module Content
Students will first be introduced to the various types of legal systems regionally and globally. They will then examine the importance of the legal aspects to contracts worldwide and define the importance of international business law on corporate governance. Furthermore, the module will lead students through the enforcement options applicable in international business law, such as arbitration or litigation. Additionally, students will participate in a Moot Court simulation activity to experience the nature of court proceedings.

The module will be taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials and student-led activities, including a variety of case studies.
