Aims of Module
The module prepares learners with an understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion in the service sector. It enables learners to evaluate workplaces for equality towards employees and customers, and propose strategies for inclusive and legally compliant policies.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate a critical understanding of the scope of diversity and inclusion in the service sector.
2 Propose and justify strategies for an inclusive service sector workplace and customer services culture.
3 Develop tactful cultural diversity management skills to foster service teams empowered by diversity.
4 Demonstrate a critical understanding of the importance of a diversity strategy as a compliance obligation.

Indicative Module Content
Biases and prejudices in the workplace and towards consumers, under-represented groups, discrimination factors, inclusive culture of attitudes and behaviours, strategies to leverage equal inclusive messages, legal compliance. This modules engages students with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality. and engages students with UNESCO's Critical Thinking, Self-awareness and Normative competencies through the analysis of cultural and organisational systems, norms, practices and societal value systems that impact on any equality agenda.

Module Delivery
Core concepts delivered through lectures and supporting tutorials. Significant focus on active discussion throughout delivery of concepts. Industry guest lectures where possible.
