To provide the participants with the ability to apply practical filmmaking techniques as well as a theoretical understanding of commercial filmmaking practice. |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Apply practical skills and techniques to create a visual product using the relevant production tools and engage with the filmmaking process e.g. cinematography, editing, sound, narrative. |
2 | Develop an understanding of the use of storytelling in the context of commercial filmmaking including the impact it has on targeted audiences. |
3 | Engage with and appraise critically the visual work of other commercial filmmakers. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
This course will equip the participants with the essential skills and understanding needed to excel in the creation of engaging piece of video content for specific markets. From concept development to post-production, participants will experience the entire filmmaking process, gaining in-depth knowledge in areas such as directing, producing, creative project management, and cinematography. The course is designed to not only encourage the student to deliver creative content, but to learn and understand the creative process in what is expected in the media industry. |

The 8-week module will be delivered using a blended learning approach with lectures pre-recorded and uploaded online, and the hands-on labs/tutorials delivered on-campus using school equipment. The content of the classes will be structured in a way that best accommodates the actual process of the visual projects e.g. The audio/visual classes and workshops will be before entering the production period and the editing classes once principal photography is completed. |
