Aims of Module
The module aims to develop the student's critical and contextual understanding of international business strategies, the internationalisation of the firm and the leading international governmental organisations which influence the international business environment.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Discuss the various approaches to the conduct of international business.
2 Critically assess the processes of firm internationalisation.
3 Compare and contrast how the business environments of countries influence the operational style and strategies of international firms.
4 Demonstrate how changing international trade patterns, globalisation and governmental organisations influence the patterns of international business.

Indicative Module Content
The organisation of international business; national differences in political economy and regional economic integration; internationalisation strategies and strategic alliances; the nature and impact of governmental organisations on the international business environment; foreign direct investment; exporting, importing and countertrade. Sustainable international business issues and approaches. The module engages students with UNESCO's Education for Sustainable Development Systems-thinking competency through the exploration of the various forms in which international business can take place and the ethical and sustainability considerations shaping international business for the future.
