Aims of Module
To develop the student's critical understanding of the principles and practices which influence the development and implementation of Human Resource Management in international companies.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Evaluate the cultural impact and diversity of international human resource management strategies and practices in an organizational setting.
2 Explain international HRM theories to the global environment and propose strategies to meet company, legal and ethical needs.
3 Diagnose and explain the factors that influence the success or otherwise of expatriate assignments.

Indicative Module Content
International work environments and their social, cultural, economic, legal and business factors. International institutions and their links to HRM business practices. The impacts of cultural differences on working practices of individuals, teams and organisations. The different roles and structures of the HRM function in a vareity of countries worldwide. Management appointments, team building and staff development across international boundaries. The policies and processes of expatriate assignments.
