Aims of Module
This short foundation course has been developed for new entrants to the Document Control function in the Oil and Gas sector. It aims to enable students to gain knowledge and understanding of the value and practice of information management and document control.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Oil and Gas industry and the information management context for document control;
2 identify and evaluate technical document types and their relationships in the document hierarchy;
3 identify the stages in a project lifecycle and the role and impact of document control at each stage;
4 describe and evaluate the organisational policy, strategies and procedures which govern document control processes.

Indicative Module Content
Oil and Gas industry overview and terminology, information management, impact of document control, projects lifecycle, technical document types, document ownership, policies, standards, procedures and basic processes.

Explanatory Text
The module is assessed by one component: C1 - Examination - 100% weighting. Assessment is on a pass/fail basis. An attempt consists of up to six submissions for each of the 8 tests. University Regulations permit three attempts.
Module Grade Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade:
Pass 100% achieved in all 8 tests by the sixth submission for each test.
Fail 100% not achieved in all 8 tests by the sixth submission for each test.
NS Non-submission of work by published deadline or non-attendance for examination
