Aims of Module
To provide the student with the key skills required to identify the principal issues associated with the management of knowledge as an organizational asset.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically appraise the role that knowledge management plays in decision-making.
2 Evaluate the processes by which knowledge is stored, shared and evolves within organizations.
3 Evaluate the role of experience and learning as key organizational assets.
4 Evaluate effective management strategies within information services.

Indicative Module Content
The knowledge cycle within organizations; methods of networking and sharing information and knowledge; developing strategies to promote knowledge management; information systems - development, their role in knowledge management.

The module is delivered through a combination of lectures, groupwork and tutorials, in conjunction with directed reading and individual investigation.
