Aims of Module
To provide the student with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and understanding, as well as the personal transferable skills, acquired in the programme in the real work environment.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate skills, attitudes and behaviours appropriate to the workplace.
2 Recognise their own strengths and weaknesses as potential managers.
3 Develop an understanding of the organisation in which they are placed.
4 Apply the theories, models, concepts and principles acquired in the programme to the workplace.
5 Demonstrate evidence of, and reflect on, new learning with regard to knowledge, skills and abilities required for effective functioning in the workplace.

Indicative Module Content
The content of the workplace experience will vary. However each student will draw up an agreed learning contract with the host organisation and devise a programme which will enable the learning outcomes specified above to be achieved. To engage students with UNESCO's Education for Sustainable Development Systems Thinking, the following competencies are relevant; Anticipatory, Collaboration, Critical-thinking, System-thinking, Normative competency and Self-awareness - these competencies relate to students recognising and understanding relationships between disciplines, learning from others in a professional working environment and the sharing and transferal of acquired educational and professional skills, understanding the needs, perspectives and actions of others, reflecting on self-values and motivations, continued learning and facilitating collaborative actions and activities

Module Delivery
Delivery is by means of on-the-job training and development. In addition, students may be required to attend specific staff development workshops as designated by their host organisation.
