Aims of Module
To provide the student with the opportunity to apply the knowledge, understanding and personal, transferable skills acquired in the taught modules within the real work environment.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate professional-level skills, attitudes and behaviours appropriate to the workplace.
2 Critically reflect upon new learning with regard to knowledge, skills and abilities, own strengths and weaknesses as a potential manager and development needs for their future careers.

Indicative Module Content
The content of the workplace internship will vary in accordance with the role of the student and the needs of the company in which they are placed. However each student will draw up an agreed learning contract of tasks and objectives with the host organisation and devise a programme which will enable the learning outcomes to be achieved. Through this work-based learning experience, students engage with UNESCOs Education for Sustainable Development Collaboration and Self-awareness competencies.

Module Delivery
Delivery is by means of on-the-job training. In addition students may be required to attend specific staff development workshops as designated by the host organisation.

Type: Coursework Weighting: 40% Outcomes Assessed: 1
Description: Employer evaluation comprising: (a) Learning contract in agreement with the employer; (b) intermediate review on performance, and; (c) a final, summative evaluation at the end of the internship period.
Component 2
Type: Coursework Weighting: 60% Outcomes Assessed: 2
Description: Individual Portfolio comprising CV, career plan and reflective video

MODULE PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTOR
Explanatory Text
The calculation of the overall grade for this module is based on 40% weighting of Coursework 1 (horizontal axis) and 60% weighting of Coursework 2 (vertical axis) components. An overall minimum grade D is required to pass the module.

Students will normally receive remuneration during the workplace experience period, but are expected to fund travel and other expenses themselves. This module is for delivery at BHMS Luzern, Switzerland.
