Aims of Module | |||

To enable the student to understand and apply innovation techniques and tools to the new product/service development process in an international context, focusing on the idea generation and screening stages. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Discuss the types and drivers of innovation in business. |
2 | Discuss opportunities for innovation in the international business context. |
3 | Expand problem-solving skills through the learning and practice of different creative thinking techniques and application of innovation tools. |
4 | Research and evaluate a new product/service idea and development process. |
5 | Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within an international/ multi-cultural team. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
The importance of innovation for business growth and competitive positioning; idea generation and opportunity evaluation; the role of market research in identifying opportunities; best practices and cases in disruptive and sustainable innovation, creative problem-solving, creative tools and innovation techniques; inter-cultural competencies and multi-group decision-making; entrepreneurial marketing strategies for new products and services. In addition to the need for an innovative and creative approach, students will apply both secondary and primary techniques to propose a commercially viable new product or service concept. The module engages students with UNESCO's Education for Sustainable Development Collaboration competency through actively participating in multi-cultural teams to propose a product/service that meets a defined set of needs and values. |
