Aims of Module
This module aims to both: - Critically examine the documentary form and the histories of selected documentary films and movements. - Develop the skills and knowledge to produce documentary content.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Develop a critical understanding of the history of documentary films, movements and modes of representation.
2 Develop an understanding of the professional practices and ethical considerations relevant to the planning and production of documentary content.
3 Develop video and audio production skills relevant to the production of documentary content.
4 Demonstrate the post-production skills and knowledge required to edit and deliver documentary content.

Indicative Module Content
This module addresses the following topics: The documentary tradition; modes of representation; project planning and management; documentary ethics; permissions and risk assessment; camera operation; audio recording; editing principles; editing in Premiere Pro.

In this module, students will be engaged with UNESCO's Education for Sustainable Development Critical Thinking, Collaboration and Normative competencies. Students will work together, learning with and from each other; reflect on ethical norms, practices and positions; and reflect on their own values and perceptions as they research and produce documentary content.
