Aims of Module
To enable the student to reflect deeply on the experience of Study Abroad and provide a portfolio of outputs which reflect the educational and cultural value of Study Abroad.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Produce a balanced critique of relevant nominated output relating to the host study abroad institution.
2 Reflect appropriately on the study abroad experience, including self-development in academic and cultural terms.
3 Provide recommendations on how the experience has benefitted the individual
4 Identify future skills that should be acquired to maximise employability based on the experience.

Indicative Module Content
A student with credits outstanding from a period on Study Abroad will produce a series of outputs which demonstrate deep reflection and understanding of the benefits of the Study Abroad experience. Output may consist of, but is not limited to; essays, presentations, critiques, fact sheets and guides.The student should engage with UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development; Normative, Critical Thinking, Collaboration and Self-awareness competencies in terms of: recognising and understanding relationships between disciplines; learning from others in a different environment; understanding the needs, perspectives and actions of others from different cultures; reflecting on values and motivations and facilitating collaborative and participatory problem solving.

Module Delivery
This is a student-centred, self-directed module. The student will work independently and produce output within a given time frame. Academic support will be provided by the module co-ordinator or nominee.

The calculation of the overall grade for this module is based on 100% weighting of C1. An overall minimum grade D is required to pass the module.
Module Grade Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade:
A The student needs to achieve an A in C1.
B The student needs to achieve a B in C1.
C The student needs to achieve a C in C1.
D The student needs to achieve a D in C1.
E The student needs to achieve an E in C1.
F The student needs to achieve an F in C1.
NS Non-submission of work by published deadline or non-attendance for examination

Module Requirements
Prerequisites for Module Completion of a Study Abroad period as part of an RGU undergraduate programme.
Corequisites for module None.
Precluded Modules None.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
This module is only available to RGU students who have fully completed a Study Abroad period as part of their full-time course, but have been unable to gain the relevant amount SCQF / ECTS equivalent points.
