Aims of Module | |||
---|---|---|---|
To explore the role of innovation and creativity in business environments and processes, by focusing on the idea generation and idea screening stages. The student will learn how to evoke and apply creativity as a business strategic tool and working in a team apply both creative and quantitative methods. Issues such as critical thinking, networking, the nature of the entrepreneurial personality, the role of technology in developing opportunities and leadership will be explored. |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Evaluate the contribution of innovation and creativity to new product development and business strategies. |
2 | Critically analyse how environmental scanning contributes to the identification of opportunities available to businesses. |
3 | Apply techniques for recognising, analysing and resolving problems encountered in developing strategy within a team situation. |
4 | Apply critical thought processes and scenarios to business and entrepreneurial development strategies. |
5 | Evaluate types of leadership to support entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial strategies within organisations. |

Module Delivery |
---|
Face-to-face classroom methods (lectures, tutorials) are combined with computer-mediated activities. Paper and/or web-based learning materials, seminars and/or on-line support, with group work supported by discussion forums. Emphasis is placed on an interactive approach to communication and learning, with student involvement fostered through discussions and group working. |
