Aims of Module
To enable students to develop a knowledge and understanding of contractual arrangements commonly encountered in the construction sector.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Develop an awareness of the content and effect of key provisions of contractual arrangements commonly encountered in the construction sector which may include mechanisms, such as statutory adjudication, which apply by operation of law.
2 Critically assess key problem issues relating to contractual arrangements commonly encountered in the construction industry.

Indicative Module Content
Old and new standard forms of construction contracts; suspension and termination; delay and causation; retention, liquidated damages and set-off; adjudication; sub-contracting; bonds and guarantees; assignment and novation; procurement, partnering and alliancing.

Module Delivery
This course will be taught via online lecture notes, online tutorials, assigned reading, case studies and directed research.
