Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Critically assess the role and rationale behind quality and environmental management systems like ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 within organisations. |
2 | Critically evaluate the key requirements of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 and be able to practice a range of advanced and specialised skills for the preparation of procedures and the completion of internal quality audits. |
3 | Critically evaluate the relationship between the establishment and maintenance of systems like ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and TQM and the achievement of improvement in organisations. |
4 | Synthesise the current operational and strategic issues in relation to quality, environmental and sustainable management systems; including proposed revisions and recent developments. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
The module will examine the following: the principles of quality management systems; quality assurance; quality control and quality improvement; quality system strategies; quality and environmental system requirements; implementing quality systems; the assessment process including first, second and third party assesments; beyond ISO 9000 and ISO 14000; TQM; integrated and single management systems; quality system developments and sustainability. |
